In August, I posted about the single most asked question that I receive from prospective wedding couples.
Many of you wrote in with other questions, wanting to know more!Here are all of the questions that I get asked frequently, along with their answers. If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m happy to help.
1. We love your work, and we’re ready to book! What’s the next step?
Fantastic! To reserve your wedding date, I’ll need a completed contract and a $1000 non-refundable deposit. If you do not have a contract yet, just let me know, and I’ll send one over! Of the remaining balance, 50% will be due 6 months before your wedding, and the remaining 50% will be due one month before your wedding.
2. How many hours of wedding photography do we really need?
This answer is really up to you! We can talk about example timelines to find out what is really important to you. For example, if you only really want photos of the ceremony and some family shots, then you may only need 4 hours of wedding photography. On the other hand, if you knew you wanted getting ready photos, photos throughout the day, and fun photos of everyone dancing the night away, then you may want 10 hours of wedding photography. I’m happy to help talk it out to help find the perfect collection for your wedding.
3. Do we need two photographers on our wedding day?
There are benefits of having two photographers on your wedding day, but it’s up to you on if it’s necessary. I prefer to shoot with a second shooter because it gives me the power to be two places at once! For example, I’ll usually send the second photographer with the fellas as they are getting ready, while I stay with the ladies. We’re able to capture twice as many moments by spreading out and working together. This is also true for the reception. For example, if you’re showing off your best moves on the dance floor, while your uncle is drunkenly dancing by the bar, with two photographers we’re able to capture both moments fully, even if your Uncle can’t remember later. If you are having a smaller, more intimate wedding, then I may be able to capture the day perfectly on my own, and you would only need 1 photographer.
4. How many photos can we expect from our wedding day?
Galleries typically include between 400 and 800 photos. The exact amount varies from wedding to wedding. Your online gallery will come loaded with fully-edited high-resolution digital negatives you can print anywhere–including with my recommended professional printers. You’re also welcome to share your wedding photos on Instagram and Facebook as long as you credit and tag @hillarysheddphotography in the image and post. 5. How long will our online gallery be live?
Your wedding gallery will be shareable and live for 90 days. Be sure to download and back up your images as soon as your gallery goes live. After 90 days, your gallery will be archived and can be revisited by request. You may order prints, frames, and albums anytime before or after your wedding.
6. When do you charge travel fees?
I typically add travel fees to any weddings outside of the Fort Collins, Longmont, Boulder, Denver, and Vail areas. Fees vary depending on location, and I love to travel so ask for more details!
